Projecting the SEC Basketball Tournament

We’re a week away from the start of the SEC Tournament, and there’s a weekend of games left to determine the final seeding. One Twixer took a stab at predicting the final games (good luck with that), but here’s what they came up with, and I like it.

First, if the following results fall where they may like this:

Then the SEC Tournament bracket would look like this:

What’s absolutely delightful about this is that everyone on Georgia’s side of the bracket are teams the Dawgs beat. Auburn was a nail biter, we got destroyed by Texas once and won the rebound game, and we beat Arkansas handily.

Could the Hoop Dawgs make a deep run? Could Georgia end with 24 to 25 wins? It’s all possible, but it greatly depends on what team shows up to the Tourney and whether or not White can keep the egos and psychology in check with the team heading into the next couple of weeks knowing they’ve locked in a NCAA Tournament berth.

Finish the Drill, Keep Choppin’, Feed the Trees, or whatever catch phrase you’d like to inject here. Just finish strong…and how other-worldly would it be to win the SEC Championship in football and basketball in the same season?

Either way, I can say with confidence that I won’t be watching it happen.

Go Dawgs.

  1. I always thought the alley-oop was just showmanship, but after watching this season of the high flying Hoop Dawgs, I believe White uses it as strategy. I never thought about it until recently, but if executed properly, it’s hard to defend because the opposing team really can’t see it coming until it’s too late. It’s not just Cyril jamming it down their throats (wut?), the entire team seems to be able to participate in it whether it’s the assist or the actual slam. Let’s see it in the tournaments Dunkyard Dawgs!

  2. Good Lord if that’s not a bracket roadmap for the CFP. Whatever happened to 8 vs 8 and move on from there?
