Something tells me that this isn’t what Smart is looking for in a future Dawg.
Get that bag, and can’t fault a kid at all for it. Something tells me that Kirby has bigger plans for the 2.5-5 million that Cantwell and Drew Rosenhaus were seeking.
Question is, if there’s a salary cap installed, who is he going to protect, and who is protecting with him?
What does Coffey’s tweet day?
The link doesn’t work. 🤔
I guess he deleted and reposted it for accuracy. Check it now, should be working again.
It did, thank you kind sir.
Kirby ain’t paying that for a 1st year OT and I agree. Gotta draw the line or lose the locker room.
Is Cantwell going to be Andrew Thomas as a plug and play starter on day 1 at offensive tackle? If not, he wouldn’t be worth the front-end money here.
Once again, I trust Kirby is on the mutha on this.
NIL wins again? More like college football takes another L! Praying for a reasonable salary cap that’s not a free for all bidding war for 17-18 year olds services.
I am totally fine with this. This has potential disaster written all over it no matter how good he thinks he is.
So, $2.5 mill is the going rate to give a shit about Carson Beck?
Kirby deserves the benefit of the doubt for now, but it’s not like uga just started recruiting this kid a week ago. We obviously wanted him, knew who is agent was, had to have an idea of the market… if Kirby doesn’t want to recruit that way fine, but if that’s the case why is he wasting time recruiting that way?
Over and over, it is Miami paying the crazy money. I thought that their main bag man was in financial distress. At least Texas has the fan interest to go along with their moneybags.
I trust Kirby on this. This kid has people in his ear who want their slice of the pie. It might end up at UGA yet. That said, I really want sanity to prevail at some point but college football suddenly acts like it is collectively helpless to do anything about anything.
College presidents have leave their greed and share. Collective bargaining with players with salary caps and rules is the only way. Otherwise nothing will change.
Totally agree
At that point, is it really college football?
As Ranger Russ would say, FTMF.
Amen
There’s no guarantee this youngster would ever be as good as advertised. The question for any school in the hunt is what happens if the kid doesn’t develop, craps out, transfers? I don’t know the hit rate for high 4 stars, 5 stars, but it damn sure isn’t 100%. For this type of money, how many high profile misses could any program sustain? Is it worth the risk?
Alex Mirabal, Mia OL coach, has landed three (3) five star OL in the last three years.
Stacey Searls has landed…..
ZERO!
Now tell me how many he’s had drafted.
@Jim1886
RangerRuss, like myself would wonder what makes young Jackson worth a whopping bonus without proving he can do jack-shit on the crew other than show up.
Maybe he’s Dawgs gift to an offensive line. Maybe he’s not. We’ll see.
Ask Tennessee how it worked out overpaying for “potential”
