          • Monticello, You say the party of peace like it was a slander. Pretty sure all but the arms manufacturers want peace. How do we keep the genie in the bottle is the question? As Otto has pointed out, Russia is greatly diminished due to the conflict with Ukraine. Even if WWIII was in the offing, as the Donald thinks it is(real blight on real estate prices), I suspect Putin is concerned about how many missiles might explode in the silos based on the readiness we’ve seen in Ukraine. BTW, at the height of the Cold War, today’s goto Curtis Lemay, was quoted as saying Russia would not retaliate to a strike in Cuba because they knew of America’s massive superiority. I’m unaware that we have ceded that superiority, but I do see it on the horizon if the “surrender monkeys” in Congress keep on deferring to the Communists. Just my opinion.

      And as a bonus, we get to lose our well-earned and hard fought “leader of the free world” status.

  3. And I thought I slept late this morning. Excellent article, Derek, thanks for posting. Speaking of great leaders, John Lewis spoke at my son’s high school commencement. I was struck by how small he was, in stature. The power of his voice and the passion that he had for his ideas was gigantic. It would have been easier, and less painful for a small man to stay in the background and try to work behind the scenes, but Mr. Lewis stayed right out front, leading with his head most times, pushing for a better America for all of us.
    Which leads me to my diversion, we elect people to represent us, and I think to lead us. If you are the one-eyed man in the land of the blind, are you not compelled to shepherd those less fortunate to safer pastures? Are not our “leaders” compelled to represent their voters by not only listening to what they say, but having the courage to represent what’s best for their constituents, and to a degree, America?
    My constituents might feel that since God wasn’t answering our prayers that our “exceptionalism” be recognized by all, we would build a superstructure as high as possible. Our logic being that by being “closer to God” He would hear our prayers over every else’s. As a leader, I might have the foresight to suggest that the construction effort go towards a “Tolerance Temple” to facilitate the issues on the ground for generations to come.
    Just some random thoughts while I wait for the leaders to bring down the price of eggs or anything that doesn’t involve screwing over our allies.

It’s not hard to look up the people in this article and the long and sordid history of the party they represent. Not a single Democrat at the joint address to Congress last night put aside politics and optics “for the good of the country”. Not a single clap for 2 mothers whose daughters were brutally raped and murdered by vicious animals Democrats allowed to walk right into this country. Not a single clap for a 13 year old black child battling brain cancer, nor a young woman whose athletic ambitions were snuffed out by a male cosplaying as a “female” volley ball player. A young high school student from a family of patriots having his lifelong dream of attending West Point fullfilled isnt worth applauding, because Orange Man Bad. The saving grace in this current Democrat shitshow is that unlike in the past, when they could stealth edit Wiki entries and rewrite history with left wing academics, what is currently happening is going out live to the world courtesy of modern social media and a new generation of actual journalists. And as the world sees in real time what they really stand for (no pun intended), I can only hope they are soon dispatched to the politcal dustbin with the Whigs and Federalists. I do not understand the blind loyalty of ideologues to a party bereft of sane ideas and long past its sell-by date. I jetisoned the Republican Party as an entity I owed allegience to shortly after 9/11 when they showed their true colors. But voting the lesser of 2 evils is still a vote for evil. We are in a unique place in American history, I just wish more people understood that.

  5. I’m in my mid-50s. My entire life the country has been rightfully unified in its opposition to the Soviet Union/Russia. The fact that so many people have chosen to turn away from our traditional allies to apparenlty join with Russia because one of the worse humans I have ever observed told them they should is something I will never understand. We have truly lost our way as a nation.
